New Zealand Rugby Player Goes On Naked, Drunken Rampage
Zac Guildford is a 22 year old member of the famous New Zealand All Blacks rugby squad. Zac Guildford is also a 22 year old with a drinking problem, apparently.
At some point Friday night, in New Zealand Rarotonga, Zac got so hammered that he showed up to a bar covered in blood—and nothing else. He then, allegedly, proceeded to punch two men, climb up on some stage in the bar and then run into the kitchen where he was promptly covered up by staff. He did leave with a group of women he had been partying with earlier, though so the night wasn't a total loss.
Family members seem to think his drinking stems from an inability, or at least failure as of yet, to cope with the sudden loss of his father three years ago. Guildford's father died while watching Zac play for New Zealand's Under-20 team in 2009 when they beat England in the world championships in Tokyo.
His grandfather, Frank Burt, said "He has had a hell of a three years and really he has been the only one who has never grieved."
Even the New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key, chimed in. "What I would say is Zac Guildford is obviously a player with an enormous amount of ability, but if the media reports are right, he needs to try to resolve those personal issues he's going through."
