Watch The Final Minutes Of The Game That Inspired Hoosiers, Real-Life Jimmy Chitwood Interview
The Indiana High School Athletic Association recently made this rare footage of the final minutes of the 1954 State Championship game that inspired the classic film Hoosiers available—though you'll have to go to IHSAA's site to see the final seconds. Milan High, with an enrollment of 162 students, defeated Muncie Central (1,662 enrolled) 32-30 and would become the stuff of suburban legend.

The backdrop you see in grainy black and white is Butler Fieldhouse, where the back-to-back national runners-up Butler Bulldogs still play. At the time, Indiana famously held a single state tournament, where all teams competed against each other regardless of size.
The footage also includes interviews with some of the players, including the real-life Jimmy Chitwood, whose actual name is the equally memorable Bobby Plump. It is well worth a watch.
