This 1969 St. Louis Blues Hand-Drawn Media Guide Is Wonderful
We love cool old things. And while this may not be the oldest hockey relic we've come across, it's absolutely one of the coolest.
Reddit user KickapooPonies came across 29 pages of a St. Louis Blues media guide, featuring hand-drawn portraits and trivia for players, coaches, executives, and even the organist at the old St. Louis Arena. The info dates it to the 1969-70 season, the Blues' third year of existence.
We're not sure if this was the official media guide, or just a promotional item put out by team sponsor Falstaff Beer. But it's a great trip down memory lane, and makes that Blues team seem as likable and human as can be. (Al Arbour is "one of the few hockey players to wear glasses!" Glenn Hall "wore a face mask during every game but one last season!")
Those Blues would go on to first place in the West, but lose to the Bruins in the finals.
