Kentucky Will Win The National Championship, According To 4 Billion Computer Simulations
Ah, computers. Is there nothing they can't simulate?
Reclusive computer scientist Jeff Sagarin, who's been USA Today's statistical guru of choice for some millennia now, ran 4 billion computer simulations of the Final Four matchups and found out that (surprise!) the most likely result is that Kentucky defeats Ohio State next Monday in the national championship.
Kentucky, a heavy favorite over in-state rival Louisville in Satruday's Final Four semifinal, has been seeing a lot of action at the sportsbooks. Mike Colbert, of Cantor Gambling, says it's the most buzz he's seen since UNLV's 1990 championship squad:
The way Kentucky plays together, they are probably the most unselfish team I've seen in quite some time. They literally have five NBA players on the floor at all times, which is unheard of, but the way they play defense and the way they play together ... there's not one selfish player on the court. ... I'd be very, very surprised if they get beat. I have to give (John) Calipari credit. This has been his best coaching job by a mile."
