The Ever-Inflating Joe Flacco: "I Think I'm The Best"

It was only back in January, on the eve of his fourth postseason appearance in as many seasons, that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco demanded a little credit for being a playoff quarterback. Baltimore subsequently defeated Houston before losing to New England, thus keeping Flacco's reputation solidly intact, even if this AFC Championship Game loss wasn't directly attributable to Flacco's performance.

Flacco's contract is up after this season, and his agent has said he's seeking a deal that would put Flacco in the company of the league's top five quarterbacks. When asked about that this morning by WNST in Baltimore, Flacco raised the bar even higher:

"Without a doubt. What do you expect me to say? … I assume everybody thinks they're a top-five quarterback. I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way. I mean, c'mon? That's not really too tough of a question. But that doesn't mean that things are gonna work out that way. It just means that that's the way it is, that's the way I feel it is, and that's the way I feel it should be."

That pretty much settles it, then. The Ravens must be working feverishly to draw up contract terms reflecting that assessment.
