NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman Has Taken His Talents To Bulgaria
Alleged deadbeat dad Dennis Rodman, who's awaiting sentencing in May on charges that owes back child and spousal support to his ex-wife, has flown to Bulgaria in time for the country's All-Star basketball exhibition on April 7. No one seems terribly sure if Rodman will, you know, play in the game, but he hinted as much upon his arrival last night:
Besides attending the game, Rodman will hold a press conference and lecture Bulgarian youngsters on the specifics of his psychological preparation before basketball games.
He emerged at the Sofia National Airport dressed in simple clothes, wearing dark sunglasses and a baseball cap, which prevented fans from seeing his latest hair color.
"Hey, it is not very cold here," the star exclaimed.
When asked if he felt ready to play, Rodman replied: "Not right now. I am tired. The flight from Miami was long. The weather is warm there and I boarded it straight from the beach.
The NBA legend, though tired, did not miss the opportunity to compliment Bulgarian women.
"I learned a bit about your country on the internet. Your women are very beautiful," said he, before heading to his hotel.
Bulgarian sports site Gong.bg recapped the day's events as such (with an assist from Google Translate):
Special guest at this year's HDI Star Game Dennis Rodman was extremely friendly to the press conference that preceded his participation in Saturday's show in Sofia. 50-year-old former basketball star is behaving like a high rank, positive and natural, and immediately won the audience at the Grand Hotel "Sofia". Rodman said he is here mostly for the kids that will make camp and said that until Bulgaria reminds him of his home in the States.
Gong.bg also has the full 23-minute video of Rodman's arrival.
