Manchester United Blew A Two-Goal Lead With Ten Minutes Left To Hold Open The Premiership Door
A win over Everton today would have virtually assured Manchester United yet another Premier League championship—and given the Red Devils were playing at home against a team that has never beaten them in the EPL hasn't won an EPL match at Old Trafford in 20 years, it should have been a lock.
It sure looked like one, when Man United held a 4-2 advantage with less than ten minutes remaining in the match. But the Toffees rallied, first on a goal by Nikica Jelavic then an equalizer a minute later from Steven Pienaar, set up by Marouane Fellaini. Manchester United put all hands on deck to try and score a winner, but Everton keeper Tim Howard's outstanding save in the fifth minute of stoppage time provided Everton the hard-earned point—and deprived Man United the three they'd been expecting.
