Calvin Johnson Goes Yard At Comerica Park
Fine, it was during batting practice—if you want to get technical about it—but impressive nonetheless for the Lions freakishly talented wide receiver. According to Johnson his power display was no fluke, he was approached by the Reds while in high school before he committed to Georgia Tech and football quickly took over his life.
Johnson even impressed Detroit's gruff old salt, and told him he wanted to "support the cause" while Austin Jackson is on the DL.
"He can hit," Leyland said, after giving Johnson a few tips and getting an autographed ball. "That kid is a great athlete, no matter what he's doing."
After a few solid hacks, Megatron deposited a ball in the Tigers bullpen while the "brotherhood" of wide receivers looked on. Poor Nate Burleson, however, could only hit the warning track.
