Rory McIlroy had an 11:25 a.m. local time (important) tee time this morning. Rory was a little bit late getting to the Ryder Cup because he has no idea what time it is. According to NBC/Golf Channel, Rory was telling time by the television and since they kept giving his tee time as 12:25 p.m. because they "always do things with eastern time zones in mind," he thought his tee time was at 12:25 p.m. Only problem is, the Ryder Cup is being played in Medinah, Illinois, which is in the central time zone and is one hour behind eastern time, so his tee time was actually 11:25 a.m. Rory arrived via police escort, mid-report, approximately 10 minutes before his scheduled tee time.
There may be more to the story though, as golf live-tweeting savant Norm Macdonald sees through the mixup and asks what some may be too afraid to ask.
Rory is doing some putting. He tees off soon. It is all very odd. He has been here all week. The time zone has not changed.— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) September 30, 2012
The question is: What did Rory know and when did he know it?— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) September 30, 2012
