The Charlotte Bobcats won their opener the other night, which is an occasion in and of itself. Sure, things returned to normal the next night when they lost to the Mavericks by 27, but Bobcats fever is spreading, so much so that no less than alt-rock piano maestro Ben Folds wants to get his band (he and the two other original members of the Five reunited last year) in on the action:
My band Ben Folds Five are from NC and would like to volunteer to be pit band at a@bobcats game this season— benjamin folds (@BenFolds) November 5, 2012
.@bobcats fans RT my last tweet to get their attention for Ben Fold Five to be pit band at a game this season. -thanks, Ben— benjamin folds (@BenFolds) November 5, 2012
The Bobcats seem enthusiastic about the proposal, as well they should be.
@benfolds we hear you loud and clear Ben! DM us so we can exchange info and get the ball rolling...— Charlotte Bobcats (@bobcats) November 5, 2012
I heartily endorse everything about this arrangement, both because Folds puts on one helluva live show, and because he's already written the chorus for what, with just a few lyrical tweaks, could very easily be the Bobcats' fight song.
