Someone Named Quinton Ross Found Dead [Update]
Update: The Post has walked back its earlier report, and now claims that the body found in Queens this morning is that of another man named Quinton Ross, not the former NBA player.
Our original post is below.
The that Quinton Ross, who played seven seasons with five different NBA teams, was found dead in Far Rockaway, Queens, this morning, his body stuffed into a trash bag and buried in a shallow grave. He was 32 years old.
Ross, a Dallas native, was reportedly being hounded for money by unknown people, according to his aunt. He had disappeared last week and was reported missing on Thursday, before his body was found hastily buried in a patch of weeds near the Far Rockaway beach boardwalk today. (Here's a Google street view image of the area.) Police were reportedly able to locate his body by tracking his cell phone, and Ross was identified by his clothing.
The 6'6" swingman out of SMU went undrafted in 2003, but after a year in Belgium was signed by the Clippers. After four seasons in L.A., he spent time with the Grizzlies, Mavs, Wizards, and Nets. He most recently played in France in the 2012-13 season.
