Glory Johnson Slams WNBA For One-Game Suspension After Throwing Punch
Photo Credit: Tony Gutierrez/ [object Object] Dallas Wings forward Glory Johnson has come out swinging against the WNBA after being issued a one-game suspension today for throwing a punch during an on-court altercation Saturday.
Johnson attempted to punch Atlanta Dream guard Matee Avajon after Avajon repeatedly tried grabbing at her throat, with no call from the officials. The punch didn’t land, but play was stopped and Johnson has now been suspended for Wednesday’s game against Connecticut. There is no suspension for Avajon, and Johnson’s not happy about how the play was handled—which she made very clear in a series of Instagram posts today.
The one above dropped this afternoon, and another one came four hours later this evening with a different angle on the fourth-quarter altercation:
Johnson was suspended for seven games last season after a domestic violence incident with her then-wife and Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner.
