Indiana Football Player Charged With Felony Child Molestation (UPDATE)
Photo credit: Darron Cummings/ [object Object] Indiana University freshman wide receiver Kiante Enis was charged with two counts of felony child molestation Thursday, according to the Randolph County (Ind.) Sheriff. Here is the press release from the sheriff’s department (sic throughout):
On September 22nd, 2016, Kiante Christopher Enis ... was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Child Molesting as a Level 3 Felony. On September 21st, 2016, Randolph County Sheriff’s Department received report of a possible relationship between Kiante Christopher Enis and a child 13 years of age or younger. Interviews were conducted by Randolph County Sheriff’s Detectives in which both the child and Kiante Enis admitted to a consensual sexual encounter that occurred on at least two occasions in Randolph County, State of Indiana. At the conclusion of the investigation, Kiante Enis was booked into the Randolph County jail and held under a $20,000 dollar bond for the alleged offense.
A level 3 Felony carries a penalty upon conviction of a three (3) and sixteen (16) years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00.
Enis is listed on the Hoosiers roster, but has yet to take a snap this season. The Indianapolis Star that, according to head coach Kevin Wilson, Enis has been dealing with a concussion.
Indiana University didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Update (5:15 p.m. ET): Indiana’s football team has dismissed Enis, and taken him down from their roster.
