Morgan State Football Player Dies Two Weeks After Collapsing At Practice
Marquese Meadow, an 18-year-old defensive tackle for Morgan State University, died Sunday. Two weeks earlier, Meadow was practicing with the football team before becoming disoriented and then hospitalized:
Meadow was hospitalized after officials with Morgan State say he collapsed during practice. He signed with the Bears as a defensive lineman and had a promising football career.
"He was participating in workout sessions and became disoriented. The trainers did an evaluation and with the way that he responded they decided to call paramedics," [spokesman Clint] Coleman said.
Meadow's death comes after Navy football player Will McKamey also died after collapsing at practice in March. McKamey died as the result of a brain injury. Morgan State said it was not aware of any medical conditions that could have caused Meadow's collapse, and it's still unclear what ultimately caused his death.
