This Is One Of The Worst Blown Calls You'll Ever See In A Football Game
Here's a clip from last night's Ohio-Buffalo game, in which one of the referees completely craps the bed on an intentional grounding call.
As you can see, Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton is flushed out of the pocket and driven all the way back to his own four-yard line before desperately throwing the ball away. The referee correctly flags Tettleton for intentional grounding. And then, for some reason, he also rules a safety on the play. This despite the fact that Tettleton was nearly five yards outside of the end zone when he threw the ball away.
I honestly have no idea how the ref could have blown this call. I mean, look, he was standing right there:
On the bright side, the blown call didn't hurt Ohio's chances too much. They went on to lose 30-3.
