Early this morning, the American Rifleman, the self-described "official journal of the National Rifle Association" sent out the following tweet:
Somewhere in America, a real human being rolled out of bed, and decided that today would be a good day to send out a tweet like that.
Update, 12:10 p.m.: The tweet has since been deleted, but we managed to capture a screenshot:
Update, 1:30 p.m.: Here is the official comment from the NRA regarding the tweet:
A single individual, unaware of events in Colorado, tweeted a comment that is being completely taken out of context.
That statement comes from the NRA's director of public affairs, Andrew Arulanandam, and it suggests that the tweet was not sent out by an automated system
Update, 1:48 p.m.: The @nra_rifleman account has been deleted entirely.
