A Transformer Exploded In New York And The Videos Rule Extremely Hard

I am told this spectacular light show over New York City tonight was caused by a transformer explosion at a power station in Queens, and not by a massive meteor burning up in the atmosphere, nor by slimy space aliens parking their city-sized mothership over the city and preparing the invasion. One thing we can all agree on is that it was a spectacle worthy of the apocalypse!

Some of the videos show the actual power plant, with a view of the actual fire at the actual transformer. I want these videos to be the most awesome of all, and yet they are not:

The best videos have some city in the foreground and include the incredible humming sound coming off of that thing. If I’d been there I would’ve been DEAD CERTAIN that was the sound of The End Times. Officials reportedly say there was no major fire and there have been no injuries, although the situation seems to be a little hairy at LaGuardia Airport, where all power was lost and some flights apparently had to be diverted with very little notice:

While I am not at all envious of New Yorkers who have to deal with the inevitable headaches of living without electricity for however long this takes to clean up—to say nothing of airline passengers whose planes are doing Top Gun maneuvers on approach to a darkened airport—I feel quite certain that there is an adequate supply of transformer parts hanging around in a warehouse somewhere, and I therefore move that we should blow up one of these suckers every week!
