Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Adin Hill made 38 saves and Jack Eichel and Tomas Hertl scored power-play goals to lead the Vegas Golden Knights to their third straight win, a 3-2 decision over the Dallas Stars on Friday night in Las Vegas.
Shea Theodore had two assists and Nicolas Roy also scored for Pacific Division-leading Vegas, which is 11-3-0 at home. Hill improved to 12-4-2 on the season, including 10-2-2 over his past 14 starts.
Mason Marchment and Mavrik Bourque scored goals for Dallas, which took its second straight loss to finish 1-2-0 on its western road trip. Jake Oettinger finished with 25 saves for the Stars, who were whistled for six minor penalties (including one double minor).
Dallas appeared to take a 1-0 lead at the 2:40 mark of the first period when Jason Robertson jammed a puck from under Hill's glove and inside the right post. However, Vegas successfully challenged for goalie interference on the play.
Hertl then gave Vegas a 1-0 lead at the 15:23 mark -- 10 seconds into a five-on-three power play. Mark Stone, playing for the first time since sustaining a lower-body injury on Nov. 6 against Edmonton, got the primary assist with a pass from the goal line to Hertl in the low slot. Hertl snapped a wrist shot into the top right corner of the net.
Dallas tied it 1-1 early at 6:39 of the second period. Bourque tapped a loose puck past Hill's left skate for his first goal in 15 games and second of the season.
After Jamie Benn picked up a double minor for high-sticking Nicolas Hague, the Golden Knights regained the lead on a power-play goal. Eichel roofed a one-timer off a Theodore pass from the bottom of the left circle at 15:40.
Roy made it 3-1 just 68 seconds later, snapping a wrist shot from the middle of the left circle past Oettinger's blocker side and off the near post.
Dallas pulled Oettinger for an extra attacker with 3:17 remaining and Marchment put in a rebound of a Wyatt Johnston deflection to cut it to 3-2 with 2:34 left.
The Stars swarmed the net during the final minute in a frantic attempt for a tying goal, but Hill turned away four shots.
