Adrián Beltré Smoked A Double For Career Hit Number 3,000
Adrián Beltré today became just the 31st player in Major League Baseball history to record 3,000 hits, smoking a 3-0 fastball from Orioles starter Wade Miley into left field for a stand up double.
Beltré is the third player in three years to reach the milestone, after Alex Rodriguez collected his 3,000th hit in June 2015, and Ichiro got his in August of last season. If you’re really into useless baseball trivia, Beltré is the eighth player to smack a double with hit number 3,000.
Here’s a great compilation of Beltré taking unwanted head pats from teammates (mostly Elvis Andrus):
Beltré did this in the same week in which he was ejected from a game for moving the on-deck circle. Someday we are all going to miss Adrián Beltré so, so much.
