Andy Murray, Emma Raducanu join for Wimbledon mixed doubles

Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports Two former Grand Slam winners are joining forces, with Andy Murray and fellow Brit Emma Raducanu to play mixed doubles at Wimbledon.
Murray and Raducanu accepted a wild-card entry into the event at the All England Club in London before Wednesday's tournament draw.
Beset by injuries late in his career, Murray pulled out of singles play at Wimbledon after recently undergoing surgery to remove a spinal cyst. He is a two-time winner there in men's singles -- 2013 and 2016 -- and will also play men's doubles with his brother, Jamie Murray.
Murray, 37, has said this year will be his final time playing at Wimbledon.
Raducanu, 21, has one WTA Tour title to her credit -- the 2021 U.S. Open.
Murray, who has 46 tour wins, played mixed doubles in 2019 with Serena Williams -- like him, another former World No. 1 -- and they reached the third round.
Murray and Raducanu drew Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Shuai Zhang of China as their first-round opponents. That match is scheduled for Friday morning.
