Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Buffalo wide receiver Gabe Davis will miss the rest of the playoffs after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, Bills head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Monday.
Davis underwent an MRI earlier Monday to assess the severity of the injury, NFL Network reported, noting that swelling in his knee made it difficult for the Bills' medical staff to formulate an initial diagnosis.
Davis, 26, was carted to the locker room in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 27-24 road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round. Buffalo advanced to face the Denver Broncos, the AFC's top seed, in the divisional round on Saturday.
Davis' knee buckled as he was hit while trying to catch a pass in triple coverage. He previously sustained a torn PCL and meniscus in the same knee in November 2024, during his lone season as a member of the Jaguars.
Typical recovery time for a torn ACL is at least six to nine months, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Davis signed with Buffalo in September as his recovery continued and played six games during the regular season, recording 12 catches for 129 yards and one touchdown. He had two catches for 14 yards against Jacksonville in the playoff opener.
A fourth-round draft pick in 2020, Davis spent his first four seasons with the Bills. In 80 career games (61 starts), he has 195 receptions for 3,098 yards and 30 scores.
