Bonnies Upset A-10 Top Seed SLU With Bonkers, Buzzer-Beating Finish
First-seed St. Louis has just been knocked out of the Atlantic 10 tournament by ninth-seed St. Bonaventure thanks to a deep, buzzer-beating three from junior Bonnies guard Jordan Gathers. The game itself was incredible, as St. Bonaventure fought back from a 10-point halftime deficit, but the last 45 seconds were absolutely wild.
With the quarterfinal game tied at 65, St. Bonaventure guard Matthew Wright hit a corner three to put the Bonnies up three. St. Louis forward Dwayne Evans, only 3-15 on the year from behind the arc, pulled up with 20 seconds left and drained a three to tie. But 10 seconds later, Bonnies guard Charlon Kloof dribbled hard to the right as Gathers floated to the top of the key. Kloof found Gathers wide open behind the arc, and Gathers drained the game-winner to send the top seed home.
St. Bonaventure will play either fourth-seed St. Joes or fifth-seed Dayton tomorrow.
