Mike Tomlin Mangles Metaphor
Photo: Joe Sargent/ [object Object] Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is plenty fired up to play the Patriots on Sunday, and he’s not afraid to say so. From ESPN:
“It’s good to be in the kitchen. The kitchen’s in Pittsburgh, PA, this week in the National Football League, and at Heinz Field,” Tomlin said of his team’s showdown with New England in arguably the biggest game of the NFL season. “That’s where you want to be in the middle of December. We don’t take it for granted.”
This isn’t the first time in recent weeks Tomlin has refrained from coachspeak to say exactly what’s on his mind about the Patriots, in defiance of the dumb superstitions surrounding the things the Steelers have said out loud over the years before the Patriots inevitably thump them. Good on Tomlin. Everyone knows the place to be in the middle of December is a kitchen in Pittsburgh.
