The Cardinals Lost Their 24th Game
Photo: [object Object] Bryce Harper and Danny Espinosa each socked home runs Thursday night as the Washington Nationals beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1.
Aledmys Díaz’s solo shot in the fourth inning gave the Redbirds a one-run lead, but Harper capitalized on a Mike Leake offering in the sixth inning and took it to the upper deck to tie the game. Espinosa went yard in the seventh for the game-winning run.
Leake was charged with both runs over seven innings, with seven hits and one walk. He regretted the two pitches he left over the plate.
“Hanging changeup and a hanging slider, right where hitters want the ball,” Leake told the Associated Press. “If you take those back, it’s a zero-run ballgame.”
The Cardinals hold a .500 record. There’s always the next game!
