Brewers top Twins with 5-run 12th inning

Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports Brice Turang drove in three runs, Jackson Chourio went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and the Milwaukee Brewers outlasted the Minnesota Twins for an 8-4, 12-inning win on Saturday night in Minneapolis.
The Brewers scored five in the 12th to secure the victory in their first game after the All-Star break. Christian Yelich, Joey Ortiz and William Contreras had one RBI apiece.
Carlos Santana hit a two-run home run in extra innings to lead the Twins at the plate. Diego Castillo went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair.
Brewers right-hander Jakob Junis (2-0) earned the victory in relief despite allowing three runs (one earned) in two innings. He was one of six pitchers to follow starter Freddy Peralta, who fanned eight in six scoreless innings.
Twins left-hander Steven Okert (3-1) gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. Minnesota used seven relievers after starter Pablo Lopez, who gave up one run in seven innings.
Ortiz started the five-run 12th by hitting a sacrifice fly to center field. Chourio singled in the next at-bat to score Blake Perkins and make it 5-3.
Turang followed with a two-run single to right field to drive in Jake Bauers and Chourio. Contreras added an RBI single to center to score Turang and finish the big inning.
The Twins managed one run in the bottom of the 12th. Castillo drove in Manuel Margot with a single to center field, but the game ended moments later when Byron Buxton lined out to left.
The Brewers had a chance to win one inning earlier when they took a 3-1 lead in the top of the 11th. Turang and Yelich drove in one run apiece.
The Twins had two outs in the bottom of the 11th when Santana belted a two-run blast to even the score at 3-3. The 391-foot shot to right marked his 14th homer.
Milwaukee broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third.
Garrett Mitchell led off the inning with a double to right. Two batters later, Chourio ripped a single to right to drive in Mitchell.
Minnesota evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth. Castro doubled to left, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Castillo's fielder's choice to second.
