But Seriously, Gareth Bale Scores Whenever The Hell He Wants
Today, Tottenham were four short minutes from a disastrous draw or even a loss against Southampton when Spurs star Gareth Bale decided, as he's done a few times this season, that he would probably rather win. So he went and scored.
Seriously, it looked that easy. He received the ball on the right wing, cut through the middle on his preferred left foot, and unleashed a low, dipping shot that beat the the Southampton keeper. It was the Welshman's 20th goal in the league, and even though he's made a regular practice of late-game heroics, today's strike was surely the most important of the year.
With the win, Spurs secured three more points to tally 65 points for the season, leapfrogging Arsenal to occupy fourth place in the Premier League and the last Champions League spot. Arsenal are a point behind them, though they're taking on relegation-bound QPR now. Chelsea also have 65 points, though they have a game in hand. They play league champions Manchester United tomorrow.
