Mitch Albom Has A Few Things To Get Off His Chest
Yesterday afternoon, Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom appeared on Scott Van Pelt's radio show to offer his insights on the rickety state of American journalism. Yes, pamphleteer fans: Mitch Albom hates blogs.
Of course, this is a tired, stale argument, that's almost too easy to pick apart but Albom's interpretation on the 2005 train of thought stands out because it is so amusingly nonsensical.
"Bloggers can essentially basically be anyone with a computer. And anyone with a computer does not belong on the level any more than I should just be able to to arrest somebody you know because I decided to, versus being a police officer. Or do somebody's taxes because I decided to, versus going to accounting school."

Okay:
Well, for starters, it appears Albom is also anti-vigilantism and anti-Turbo Tax in addition to anti-blog. But to further his point he gets all "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!" for "Brad" Van Pelt in order to distinguish himself from the freewheeling typists who lack credibility and proper training.
At least in my case and a lot of the people that are from my era and I've been in this close to three decades now, we went to school for this. We trained for this. I have a Master's degree from Columbia. I learned certain rules about what is journalism and what isn't"
Well, he learned .
Also notable from SVP yesterday was the appearance of The Sporting Blog's Chris Mottram who was given the unenviable task of responding to Albom's comments. Amazingly, he did so without exasperatedly sighing nor refusing to get off of anybody's lawn.
