Giants score 3 early runs, hold to beat Angels

Matt Chapman hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Landen Roupp surrendered two solo shots to Mike Trout but just three other hits, and the visiting San Francisco Giants held on to beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 on Saturday night.
Willy Adames singled home what proved to be the difference-making run in the third inning for the Giants, who stopped a two-game losing streak.
The Angels lost for the fifth time in six games.
Chapman's homer, his fourth of the season, came four batters into the game. Angels starter Kyle Hendricks (0-2) walked Adames with one out and gave up Chapman's blast with two outs.
Adames' run-scoring hit followed Mike Yastrzemski's one-out doubled for a 3-0 lead.
Roupp (2-1) gave up homers to Trout in the fourth and sixth innings, giving him eight for the season. It was Trout's 28th multi-homer game, and his second this season. He homered twice at Tampa Bay on April 10.
Roupp struck out a career-high nine and walked one in the longest outing of his career. He had never previously taken a start into the seventh inning.
Tyler Rogers threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth before Ryan Walker pitched around a one-out single by Jorge Soler in a scoreless ninth for his fifth save. The Angels stranded just four baserunners and had only one at-bat all night with a runner in scoring position.
Hendricks was pulled after five innings. He gave up four hit and two walks, with one strikeout.
Reid Detmers and Ryan Johnson combined for four innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit, to keep the Angels close.
Chapman, who also singled, and Trout were the only players in the game with multiple hits with two apiece. The Angels out-hit the Giants 6-5.
