High School Pitcher Strikes Out Childhood Friend To Win Game, Immediately Hugs Him

Last Wednesday, an important Minnesota high school baseball game ended with a pitcher rushing home plate, but in a nice way. Mounds View pitcher Ty Koehn struck out Totino-Grace batter Jack Kocon to seal a three-hit shutout and 4-0 victory. Then, the two friends hugged. Aw!
As Bring Me The News reported, Koehn and Kocon are childhood pals, and the first thing the pitcher wanted to do was to console his defeated friend:
“We are very close friends,” Koehn told BMTN. “I knew him from all the way back when we were 13. We were on the same little league team. It was tough when we went to separate schools but we kept in touch.”
“I knew the game was going to keep going or it was going to end right there,” Koehn added. “I knew I had to say something. Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated.”
The win gave Mounds View its first section championship since 2015, so that’s probably just as cool as hugging your bud after striking him out.
