This morning, the NCAA announced sanctions for Penn State's football program that included vacated wins from 1998 through 2011. That means that the last man to quarterback Penn State to an on-the-books win was none other than Mike McQueary, the man who would bring the phrase "rhythmic slapping sounds" into the public consciousness. On Nov. 22, 1997, Penn State beat Wisconsin 35-10, during McQueary's senior season.

From the Philadelphia Daily News's game recap:

McQueary, one of 16 seniors playing their final home game, was just about perfect. He completed his first 12 passes. He was 13 of 14 in the first half, including a 42-yard Hail Mary touchdown on the half's final play to Joe Jurevicius. His lone incompletion was a throwaway. He passed for a school-record 219 yards in the half. For the game, McQueary was 16 of 19 for 269 yards and three touchdowns.

"He's had a great year," Penn State coach Joe Paterno said.
