Mathieu Olivier, Alexander Nylander, and Jack Roslovic also scored for the Blue Jackets, who won for the sixth time in 11 outings. Daniil Tarasov made 29 saves for his first career win against the Oilers.
Zach Hyman and Corey Perry scored for Edmonton, which saw its five-game winning streak come to an end. Calvin Pickard stopped 30 shots in the loss.
Perry pulled Edmonton to within one at 12:08 of the third on a power play, deflecting an Evander Kane shot past Tarasov for his ninth goal of the season, but that's as close as the Oilers would get.
Roslovic added an empty-netter with 19.8 seconds remaining for his sixth goal of the season.
The Jackets outshot the Oilers 13-10 in the middle period, but Edmonton had the lone goal.
Hyman got the Oilers on the board, slapping a bouncing loose puck between the pads of Tarasov for his team-leading 43rd at 1:11 into the middle frame. Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 13 games (two goals, 27 assists) and reached the 100-point mark for the fourth consecutive season with the assist.
Columbus led 3-0 after 20 minutes.
Olivier opened the scoring at 6:20, one-timing a shot past a screened Pickard for his third of the season.
The Jackets scored twice in 27 seconds to take a 3-0 lead.
Nylander doubled Columbus' lead at 14:54, picking up a Cole Sillinger feed and beating Pickard glove-side for his fifth of the season. The Jackets forward, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in February, has five goals and seven points in seven games since joining Columbus.
Then, at 15:21, Voronkov put a wrist shot under the arm of Pickard for his 17th goal. Voronkov is tied for the NHL rookie lead with that goal.
Edmonton forwards Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick, who were acquired from the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, made their Oilers debuts on Thursday.
