California’s Assembly Bill 831 prohibits dual-currency sweepstakes gaming platforms, such as WOW Vegas, starting January 1, 2026. As a result, these platforms are required to eliminate any system that allows users to earn free Sweeps Coins that can be redeemed for cash or prizes. This policy change directly affects the timeline players have to earn and redeem Sweeps Coins before they become void in California.
WOW Vegas will stop awarding new Sweeps Coins in California after 11:59 p.m. PT on December 24, 2025. That means any method players have used—daily bonuses, promotional offers, or mail-in requests—will no longer yield additional coins beyond that cutoff. Mail-in requests submitted after this time will be declined. This deadline gives California users a last chance to build up a Sweeps Coin balance before earning ends completely.
WOW Vegas has emailed California players late last week, just days before the holiday season got underway.
“We are reaching out to let you know about an important upcoming change to our Terms and Conditions, affecting players in California only,” the email reads, in part. “We have been delighted to provide SC games to you and please remember, if you ever leave California, you will be able to enjoy our full experience once again.”
Players can continue redeeming their Sweeps Coins for cash prizes or rewards until 11:59 p.m. PT on December 31, 2025. After that point, any unused coins will no longer be redeemable under the terms required by California law. WOW Vegas has confirmed the validity of this redemption window in direct communication with its California user base. The company’s goal appears to be allowing customers to use their coins right up until the legal cutoff.
WOW Vegas is uncommon in maintaining full functionality until the very end of 2025. Other operators have withdrawn earlier—some as soon as October—with many competitors offering only Gold Coin play or exiting California entirely. By extending both earning and redemption periods through year’s end, WOW Vegas is facilitating a final opportunity for players to benefit from Sweeps Coins before AB 831 takes effect.
A1 Development LLC remains the only major operator with undisclosed plans for California. The company, which owns NoLimitCoins, Tao Fortune, FunzCity, Funrize, Fortune Wheelz, and Storm Rush, has yet to update its sweeps casino terms and conditions—California is still absent from the list of restricted markets.
California-based users should:
After December 31, any leftover coins will be invalid under the new regulations, and earn-and-play will end permanently in California once AB 831 is effective.
