Rush Street Interactive (RSI) is debuting the online gambling industry’s first integrated debit payments solution. It’s being rolled out on RSI’s BetRivers platform. The company announced it teamed up with Sightline to design and launch a “groundbreaking program that enhances the way BetRivers customers interact with its proprietary online gaming platform.”
According to the press release, it is doing the initial rollout in New York where the company offers mobile sports betting. Plans call for BetRivers customers in other U.S. jurisdictions to gain access sometime in the coming months.
It’s being described as a first-of-its-kind functionality that delivers secure, seamless, and convenient access to player account balances, setting a new standard in the gaming industry. The BetRivers-branded debit is said to transform how customers access and use their funds, as players will no longer need to repeatedly withdraw and redeposit.
RSI CEO Richard Schwartz said the integrated debit payments solution marks a major step forward in enhancing the BetRivers experience.
“We’re proud that our team has helped shape this innovative payment solution in close collaboration with Sightline, further underscoring RSI’s leadership in delivering cutting-edge technologies that elevate the player experience,” Schwartz said. “Our collaboration with Sightline debit demonstrates our commitment to integrity, innovation, and delivering exceptional player experiences.”
The integrated debit card is the newest groundbreaking payment option available to BetRivers players. Customers will still be able to deposit funds using a regular Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card. Apple Pay, ACH, PayPal, and Venmo are other payment options.
BetRivers offers mobile sports betting in 16 North American markets, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, and Maryland. The company also has an online casino product available to users in West Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Overall, it adds up to having a player database in the hundreds of thousands.
However, as of now, there are no plans to add Missouri to the list, at least not yet. BetRivers was not among the nine operators to meet the September 12 Missouri sports betting application deadline.
Legal sports wagering is launching on December 1 in the Show-Me State. However, legislation permits up to 14 mobile sports betting licenses, leaving five still available. This gives RSI and Sightline time to work out any kinks before a potential Missouri launch.
The company intends for the BetRivers Debit feature as a means to foster increased player safety. It argues that players will feel safe knowing that the BetRivers debit payment solution will include the standard protections such as FDIC insurance coverage, advanced fraud security measures, along tools that support responsible gaming. This will include promoting financial transparency and sustainable play.
“Rush Street Interactive is an industry leader that strives to be first-to-market with innovations. That’s why it makes sense to launch our revolutionary integrated payment solution, Sightline Debit, with BetRivers,” Omer Satter, co-founder and CEO of Sightline Payments. “…This solution gives customers freedom and flexibility to use their funds when they want, where they want, all while dramatically reducing the cost of payments.”
