Missouri’s newly launched sports betting market is off to a striking start, with geolocation provider GeoComply reporting heavy activity in the first 24 hours of legal wagering. More than 2.6 million geolocation checks and over a quarter-million active accounts were recorded on day one, signaling strong demand as bettors gained access to eight regulated online sportsbooks at launch. This is one of the clearest indications yet of how quickly Missouri residents have embraced the state’s new legal betting landscape.
Missouri sports betting hit the ground running, sparking praise from industry observers.
“Missouri has shown for years that it’s one of the most eager states in the country for legal sports betting,” said Kip Levin, GeoComply CEO. “What we’ve seen in the first 24 hours is remarkable.
More than 250,000 accounts were active on launch day, reflecting significant early engagement from bettors. Nearly 188,000 users had pre-registered between November 17 and November 30, positioning the market for a fast start once wagering became legal.
Missouri officially opened both online and retail sports betting at midnight on December 1, 2025, immediately offering residents access to eight online sportsbooks: BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, Fanatics Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, theScore Bet, and Circa Sports. Several casinos also launched their retail locations on the same day.
Bettors had no shortage of options at launch, with wagering available on marquee events including Monday Night Football and an NHL matchup featuring the state’s team, the St. Louis Blues, giving new users an immediate slate of relevant games to explore. Most of Missouri’s early sports betting activity originated in major metro areas, particularly St. Louis and Kansas City, though geolocation data shows engagement from users across the entire state. Some checks were also recorded near the borders with Illinois and Kansas, both legal betting states, highlighting routine cross-border compliance activity as the market opened.
The early surge in activity suggests Missouri is poised to become a high-performing sports betting market right out of the gate. Strong pre-registration numbers and widespread participation across the state point to an eagerness for regulated wagering. This level of engagement mirrors the launch patterns seen in other successful betting states, signaling that Missouri could quickly climb the national rankings in handle and operator revenue.
For sportsbooks, the robust debut offers a promising foundation for long-term growth. Immediate interest in multiple operators, combined with the timing of major sporting events, creates a competitive environment likely to benefit both bettors and the state. As more users settle into regular betting habits, Missouri can expect steady revenue streams and increased market stability.
For regulators, the smooth rollout and strong compliance activity indicate that the state’s oversight infrastructure is functioning effectively. Consistent geolocation checks, particularly near border regions, show that safeguards are working as intended. Taken together, Missouri’s launch positions the state as a model for a successful launch.
