  • FanDuel leads, but posts lower annual figures
  • Possible opportunity for DraftKings to gain ground

New York’s online sportsbooks reported a year-over-year increase in wagering during Super Bowl week, with total bets surpassing $570 million. While overall handle increased compared with last year, operator revenue declined, reflecting a lower hold percentage.

Super Bowl week sets back-to-back $500M milestone

According to figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission on February 13th, New York’s eight licensed mobile operators combined to take in $572.5 million in bets during the week ending on Super Bowl Sunday. That total represents a 2.6% increase from the $557.9 million recorded during the same period last year.

The latest results also mark the first time New York bettors have eclipsed the $500 million threshold in consecutive Super Bowl weeks. This highlights the sustained high activity of the state’s online sports wagering market during one of the industry’s busiest betting events.

Market leaders post mixed Super Bowl results

Among the state’s operators, FanDuel once again led the market in total bets, taking in $207.5 million during the Super Bowl reporting period. However, that figure trailed last year’s total by 6.6%.

FanDuel converted that handle into $23.3 million in gross gaming revenue, reflecting an 11.2% hold, which was roughly four percentage points lower than its performance during the same week in 2025. Compared with the prior week, FanDuel’s wagering volume climbed by about $30 million, resulting in roughly $2 million more in profit.

DraftKings delivered a steadier year-over-year showing. The operator recorded $191.7 million in wagers, a slight dip of about 1% from last year’s Super Bowl week. It marked the company’s strongest handle in over a month and represented an increase of nearly $25 million from the previous week.

DraftKings generated $17.6 million in gross revenue, closely aligning with the $17.2 million posted a year ago, while its 9.2% hold rate exceeded the statewide average for the week.

FanDuel losing ground in New York?

The latest Super Bowl week figures highlight how even modest shifts in performance can influence positioning in New York’s highly competitive online sports betting market. While FanDuel maintained the largest share of wagers, its year-over-year decline in handle and lower hold percentage suggest a slight decline in market share.

That dynamic could create openings for competitors. DraftKings’ steady results and stronger hold relative to the statewide average point to continued stability, while operators such as Fanatics continue to grow within the state.

In a mature market where overall growth is incremental rather than explosive, small percentage swings can translate into meaningful gains in share. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend in future Super Bowls.
