Tennessee sports betting yielded strong results in terms of revenue for May, as it became the ninth consecutive month with over $40 million. While it wasn’t a record-breaking month for the Tennessee betting market, it’s still a step in a positive direction for the Volunteer State.

Tennessee sports betting monthly breakdown

Here’s a look at monthly results for Tennessee sports betting. The table below highlights a positive trend in sports betting revenue.

MonthSports Betting HandleSports Betting Revenue
May 2025$437.5 million$43.8 million
April 2025$463.6 million$46.4 million
March 2025$548.6 million$54.9 million
February 2025$413.5 million$41.4 million
January 2025$543.6 million$54.4 million
December 2024$569.8 million$57.0 million
November 2024$594.4 million$59.4 million
October 2024$547.8 million$54.8 million
September 2024$520.8 million$52.1 million

Ever since the start of the 2024 NFL season, the Tennessee sports betting market has consistently brought in over $40 million in revenue.

While May 2025 decreased from $46.4 million to $43.8 million compared to April 2025, we saw a year-on-year increase to $43.8 million in revenue vs. $37.9 million in May 2024.

However, there’s a chance that the coming months can get back below $40 million, since it’s the slowest time of the sports betting calendar, with only the MLB season as the main draw for wagering. For context, July 2024 brought in only $27.2 million in revenue.

On a positive note, it could be a huge NFL season for the Tennessee market, as the Titans now have a first-overall pick playing quarterback, Cam Ward. This will generate excitement among Tennessee bettors to wager on what could be a more improved team.

Tennessee Sports Wagering Council (SWC) new rules take effect

As of June 30th of this year, the SWC’s more comprehensive regulations have taken effect. The goal with these regulations is to create a safer environment for sports bettors, which could help the market continue to grow.

“The SWC is committed to continuously improving its rules and regulations to ensure safety, fairness, and transparency for the industry and playing public,” stated SWC Chair Billy Orgel.

The new regulations are as follows:

  • Users need to set up mandatory two-factor authentication when using debit cards for payments.
  • Know-Your-Customer protocols are stricter, such as accounts getting suspended after several failed deposits.
  • This includes a more robust selection of responsible gaming tools, including self-exclusion, deposit limits, and timeouts.
  • If there is any indication of suspicious wagering, withdrawals can be delayed.

Users can expect a more secure experience that prioritizes player safety through responsible gaming tools within the numerous online sportsbooks currently available in Tennessee.

Online sportsbooks available in Tennessee

With upward trends in sports betting in the state, the number of online sportsbooks available is unsurprising. Some of the online sportsbooks that you’ll find in Tennessee include FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, bet365, Fanatics, BetMGM, ESPN BET, and Hard Rock. The newest of the bunch is bet365, which is one of the most popular sportsbooks globally, having launched in Tennessee on March 16, 2025.
