The Wyoming Gaming Commission (WGC) announced that the Cowboy State is now participating in the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program (NVSEP). Individuals can access the self-exclusion link on the WGC website. This applies to legal online sports betting, pari-mutual wagering, and skill-based amusement games.
Wyoming is enhancing its responsible gaming framework. This new RG tool provides gamblers with a convenient, centralized resource for individuals who wish to restrict their access to gambling across participating jurisdictions voluntarily.
According to the NVSEP website, more than 100,000 people have used self-exclusion in the USA. There are 19 states supported by the NVSEP.
Individuals who decide to use the NVSEP program will notice that it includes several important features. One of the biggest is that it supports a national jurisdictional model in which the self-exclusion may apply across multiple participating states.
The NVSEP website includes an updated directory of local and national support resources. Besides providing a link to the Wyoming Council on Problem Gambling, the support services section also includes information about:
Birches Health is well known as gambling addiction specialists.
Additionally, with the online enrollment option, individuals can bypass the paperwork.
Participants have the option to request reinstatement online. It creates a smoother transition back following the completion of the self-exclusion term. Wyoming sports bettors also have the option of doing it directly from their app of choice. DraftKings Sportsbook’s RG section, for example, includes an entire page dedicated to self-exclusion.
Wyoming launched as a legal US sports betting market in 2021. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics, and Caesars are the five sports betting apps available.
In terms of the timing behind joining the NVSEP four years later, WGC executive director Nick Larramendy talked about the commitment to “fostering an environment of integrity, fairness, and player protection for all participants.”
“Joining NVSEP furthers our efforts by delivering a unified platform, making self-exclusion more accessible and providing wider geographical coverage than ever before for individuals who feel it is the right step,” Larramendy said.
Wyoming is bordered by Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Out of those six states, Utah is the only one that bans all forms of gambling. The others have some form of legalized gambling, whether it be land-based casinos, sports betting, or horse racing.
This makes the NVSEP even more valuable to Wyoming residents, especially to those traveling between states.
Jonathan Aiwazian, CEO of idPair, the technology behind NVSEP, commended the state of Wyoming for embracing what NVSEP represents.
“To be effective, we must provide people with tools that travel with them. Problem gambling does not stop at the state border, and now, neither will self-exclusion protection,” Aiwazian said.
