Look At This Fucking Hoopster: Libyan Rebel Edition
This young man is Chris Jeon. He is a 21-year-old UCLA math major and he recently decided to take a vacation to the Libyan revolution. He brought a throwback Jerry West jersey with him.
Gawker posted this story earlier today, but we absolutely have to revisit it to address the hoopster situation, and to further publicly shame Chris Jeon. He went, he told , because he "thought it would be cool to join the rebels," and because this particular revolution is the only "real" one in the world. Ah, realness. It is about time that the Millennials of this nation address the "realness" of political revolutions:
"How do you fire this thing?" he asked on Wednesday as a bearded rebel handed him an AK-47. Locating the trigger of the assault rifle and switching off the safety, Mr Jeon fired it in the air in two short bursts.
"I want to fight in Sirte!" he proclaimed, using hand gestures and pointing west towards Sirte. Whether the rebels understood him was far from clear. "It's hard to communicate. I don't really speak any Arabic," he said.
And he did it all in a $100 throwback jersey. Hoopsters worldwide, hear this: the bar has been set, and your John Stockton kiddie jerseys at Lollapalooza just will not do anymore. Get real, and get yourself a ticket to the Libyan revolution.
H/T CJ.
