Mariners' Julio Rodriguez suffers apparent right ankle injury

Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez left Sunday's game vs. the Astros in the sixth inning with an apparent right ankle injury.
Rodriguez, 23, crashed into the outfield wall trying to track down a triple by Houston's Yordan Alvarez. Rodriguez initially had the ball in his glove, but it popped out as he hit the wall. Rodriguez crumpled to the warning track and immediately grabbed his ankle.
A Mariners trainer and manager Scott Servais rushed out to attend to Rodriguez, who was able to walk off the field on his own with a slight limp.
Houston scored on the play to cut the Seattle lead to 3-2. The Astros took the first two games of the three-game series.
Rodriguez finished his day 0-for-3, lowering his season batting average to .263. A year after racking up 103 RBIs and 32 home runs, Rodriguez has just 37 and 11 in those respective categories in 2024.
