MMA Fighter Suffers Seizure After Getting Viciously Knocked Out
At an Oplot fight card held in (we believe) Russia earlier today, a fighter went into a seizure after being knocked out with a kick to the head. The footage, as seen above—it starts at about the 56:30 mark—is difficult to watch, not least because of a seemingly confused response from the referee, who immediately started dragging the fighter around by his ankles, and various people who had been standing cageside, who eventually carry him out.
We don't have many details here. Oplot has been running cards in Ukraine for years, but has recently been promoting in Russia, so that we're not entirely sure where this event was held, let alone the names of the fighters here, or what the outcome of this situation was. If you have any information, please let us know at [email protected] or in the comments below; we'll update as we know more.
Update: According to a statement, the fighter—Firuz Hadibaev—is fine, having regained consciousness about 10 minutes after the fight and shown no effects after being taken to the hospital.
