No, NESN, That's Not How You Pronounce Maurice "Rocket" Richard's Name
Maurice Richard is one of ice hockey's most legendary and greatest players. The Canadiens winger was so good that upon his retirement in 1960, the Hockey Hall Of Fame waived its usual waiting period and immediately inducted him. You might think, then, that a Boston Bruins hockey broadcast on NESN might know how to correctly pronounce the Rocket's name. You would be wrong.
A poll inviting viewers to vote on favorite hockey films is a regular NESN feature during Bruins games, and one of tonight's nominees was a 2005 biopic about the Habs star. If you're not familiar with hockey, we'll clue you in: Maurice Richard was from Montreal, and so his surname isn't pronounced the same as, you know, President Nixon's first name.
Don't tell NESN reporter Jamie Erdahl that, though.
