Sleeper started as a daily fantasy sports app, but now it’s entered prediction markets with its new “Team Picks” product – and that’s exactly what this review covers.
I’ve tested how it works, how you sign up, what payment options are available, and whether there are any real bonuses to claim.
I’ll also look at its legitimacy and what the user experience is actually like. But first, a quick look at the Sleeper platform itself.

Sleeper was launched more than a decade ago, as a fantasy sports news and chat tool. Originally called Sleeperbot, it rebranded in 2017, growing to become one of the country’s leading fantasy and daily fantasy sports apps.
Now, the company has expanded, adding prediction markets to its app. It’s not the first DFS operator to do so – see my Underdog review for another great example – and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Everything about this operation is completely above board. As I mentioned, the brand has been around for roughly a decade, and its move towards prediction markets is totally legal.
If you’ve read about the lawsuit between Sleeper Markets LLC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, don’t worry. It’s already been cleared up and the case was dropped.
Basically, the CFTC blocked the initial application, telling the National Futures Association (NFA) not to register Sleeper Markets as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). As a result, the launch of Sleeper Markets was heavily delayed, and that’s what the lawsuit was about.
Anyway, the NFA has now approved Sleeper Markets as an FCM, under ID 0570580, so there’s nothing to be concerned about. It’s operating legally and everything’s on the level.
One more thing before I get stuck into this Sleeper Markets prediction markets review – a quick explanation of how the product works. If you’ve read my Prizepicks review, or you’ve used prediction market sites before, you’ll already get the gist, so feel free to skip ahead.
Prediction markets are just yes/no propositions based on everyday questions, like “could Bitcoin reach $100,000 before the end of the year?” Sports predictions are the same – “will the Lakers beat the Cavs?” or “will Carolina win the Stanley Cup?”
Players are invited to buy contracts on the outcome of these events, the sum of which always totals $1. For instance, if the price of “Yes” is $0.76, a “No” contract will cost $0.24 to purchase. You can buy as many as you like of each, trading as the prices fluctuate, or simply wait for the result to come in.
The price of an event contract directly correlates with the percentage probability – $0.76 effectively means there’s a 76% chance of it happening. The higher the probability, the smaller your winnings will be after making a correct prediction.
When the result is known, winning contracts are paid at $1, with losing contracts worth nothing. If you held 50 winning contracts, for example, you’d receive $50.
Assuming those contracts were purchased for $0.40 each, meaning you spent $20 to acquire them, you’d win $30 overall from that market. Well, that’s $30 excluding trading fees, anyway – more on that shortly.
For the time being, you can only buy event contracts on sports, including popular US competitions like the NBA, NFL and NHL. Other sports include MMA, baseball, soccer, tennis, golf and motor racing.
Sleeper is yet to add any markets away from sports, such as politics, climate, economics and entertainment. I’m pretty sure these will arrive quickly – don’t forget how new this app still is. But until then, give my OG review a read if you’re interested in sites that offer culture, climate and crypto markets.
To fund your account and start trading, deposit using a debit Card, Apple Pay or a direct bank transfer. Withdrawals are only possible to your debit card or bank account.
Venmo, PayPal and credit cards are not currently accepted, as confirmed by the support team. The lack of PayPal was a little disappointing, as many competing operators allow it.
My final Sleeper Markets rating would definitely improve if this option was added in future. In the meantime, read my Fanatics review to learn about a prediction markets app that already accepts PayPal.
Like all prediction apps, Sleeper charges a trading fee whenever you buy or sell an event contract. This totals $0.02 per contract – purchase 100 contracts, for instance, and it’ll cost you $2. Half of the fee goes to Sleeper Markets LLC as the operator, with the rest to Kalshi, the exchange responsible for matching the trade.
These charges are perfectly reasonable compared to similar operators. OG also charges a fixed $0.02 fee per contract. And although Fanatics can be lower, its fees are also capped at $0.02 per contract.
I’m pleased to report there’s an application for iOS and Android, both of which are approved by their respective app marketplaces.
In fact, you can only make your predictions using one of these apps. Although it’s possible to register an account on the website, you need the app to trade event contracts.
The table below summarizes the key information regarding the Sleeper Markets apps:
| App Version | Android | Apple |
| Current Rating | 3.9* | 4.7* |
| Where? | Google Play | App Store |
| File Size | ~160 MB | ~155 MB |
| Requirements | Android 7.1+ | iOS 16.4+ |
All information correct at the time of writing.
Sadly, there isn’t a welcome offer for newcomers at the moment. That might not change for a while, either, based on other prediction market sites and apps. There are several operators without a signup bonus, including Fanatics and PrizePicks.
That said, new Picks accounts do still get a welcome pack, which is the closest thing you’ll get to a Sleeper Markets bonus. It starts with a free entry worth $20, followed by a $100% first deposit match bonus up to $100. You’ll also receive a free pick on any 0.5 points market.
There are no other promotions to note right now, which means there’s no loyalty program either. But I’ll update my guide if things ever change.
Should you require assistance with your account, contact support. It’s the same helpful and friendly team behind all the other Sleeper products, so rest assured you’ll get the quality service you expect.
I’ve spoken to live chat twice now, and never waited for long. My most recent interaction was with an agent called Mauve, who answered my query within three minutes, including the time it took to be connected. She also told me they’re standing by 24/7 to assist.
If you send an email, expect to wait up to 24 hours for a response.
Start with the searchable Support Center, which contains more than 80 helpful FAQs. But if that doesn’t help, use the speech bubble icon to send a message. Alternatively, email [email protected] for tech support concerning the Sleeper app.
At first, you’ll be greeted by Sleeper Bot, an AI assistant. Choose your product type, then follow the prompts to request the relevant support. Eventually, if none of the preset options help, you’ll have the opportunity to type out a message to the live chat team.

Sleeper Markets is a promising new entry into prediction markets, with a clean, easy-to-use app and competitive trading fees that sit comfortably alongside other platforms.
That said, it’s still early days. Payment options are limited, and market coverage is currently focused on sports only.
But with recent regulatory approval and ongoing development, more features, and potentially promotions, are likely on the way.
Overall, the early experience is strong enough to make it worth a look if you want a simple, sports-focused prediction platform.
Sleeper is a fantasy sports betting platform that recently added prediction markets to its app. The result is Sleeper Markets, where you can buy and sell yes/no contracts on questions about NBA, NFL and MLB events. Not to mention many other major sporting competitions.
Absolutely. Sleeper Markets is registered as a Futures Commission Merchant by the National Futures Association under ID 0570580. It’s a completely legit prediction market app, as well as a respected DFS brand for roughly a decade.
Sleeper accepts direct bank transfers, debit cards and Apple Pay. You can also withdraw winnings to your bank or debit card, but not Apple Pay. At the time of writing, Venmo, PayPal and credit cards are not accepted.
Sleeper Markets doesn’t have a dedicated welcome offer. The existing bonus is for new Sleeper Picks users. They get a free $20 entry, a deposit match bonus worth up to $100 and a free 0.5 Points pick.
It costs $0.02 to buy or sell an event contract. Half of that fee goes to Sleeper, with the remainder reserved for the exchange, which is Kalshi.
