The 2026 British Grand Prix starts today with qualifying rounds, leading up to the main race this Sunday. More than half a million fans are expected to attend the event over the weekend.
The main race will boast a lights-out start at 3:00pm local time on Sunday. The 3.66-mile course will be circled 52 times by each driver who manages to cross the finish line in Northamptonshire. Since there is little to no chance of rain during the race, the main natural hazard that pilots will have to deal with is the wind, which could gust up to 20mph.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli once again tops the Kalshi leaderboard for the driver who is most likely to win. The 19-year-old Italian is currently available for 37¢ per contract, followed by George Russell at 27¢ and veteran Lewis Hamilton at 16¢.
Contrary to our logic for the recent Austrian Grand Prix, where the course was considerably shorter, we think Lewis Hamilton is a steal at 16 cents per “yes” contract to win this Sunday. Hamilton has a total of nine victories at the Silverstone Circuit, which is more than any other driver who’s competing this weekend.
The longer course will grant the Ferrari car more opportunities to accelerate and show off engine upgrades that the sponsor has implemented in 2026. Therefore, we’re buying contracts on Lewis Hamilton to win the main race at top prediction market sites, as long as the “yes” prices remain under 20 cents per contract.
Silverstone Circuit doesn’t feature the heavy braking zones like the Austrian Grand Prix did. The Copse and Maggots-Becketts corners will require drivers to downshift, making for racing dynamics that weren’t seen in the most recent Grand Prix.
The paddock is also abuzz with controversy surrounding all the mid-season upgrades that Ferrari has made to its engine, something that Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff is not happy with. There’s a $250 million limit per season on what each team can spend on parts, which Wolff believes will impact Ferrari’s ability to adapt in future months.
Regardless, it will be all hands on deck this Sunday as Ferrari looks to give Lewis Hamilton all the tools he needs to take his 10th checkered flag at Silverstone Circuit.
Look for Lewis Hamilton’s per-contract price to increase ahead of Sunday afternoon. This is one of the main reasons we recommend picking him up now while the price is still at a relatively low 16 cents. George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli have both seen their contract prices jump since the Kalshi market opened two weeks ago, so now is the best time to buy Hamilton’s “yes” contract before prices adjust.
This market will probably exceed $1 million in total volume by the time the main race finishes on Sunday. Right now, Kalshi traders have put in over $300,000 in trades with just under 48 hours until the 2026 British Grand Prix main race begins.
The lights-out start means that each driver will take a pre-race warm-up lap around the course before lining back up in the corresponding grid position.
