Following months of college baseball games, the heartbreak of losing the top two seeds early on in the NCAA tournament, and standout performances by dozens of players, we have finally arrived at the Men’s College World Series championship game. Whoever wins Game 3 of the MCWS Finals tonight will become the next college baseball champion.
The first pitch between the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Oklahoma Sooners is scheduled for 7 o’clock Eastern Time at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The Sooners took Game 1, led by Oklahoma slugger Deiten Lachance who had two home runs. North Carolina struck back in Game 2 yesterday, relying on their star reliever Caden Glauber.
Leading up to tonight’s decisive Game 3, Kalshi forecasters have put in a total of $12 million on the eventual college baseball D1 champion. The momentum may be with the “Diamond Heels” of North Carolina, but there’s no way we’re going against the Sooners tonight. Despite their lack of a national seed in this year’s NCAA tournament, they’ve convincingly blown through the competition until yesterday’s hiccup.
Deiten Lachance and the Sooners lineup are too talented to be shut down by North Carolina’s sensational reliever Caden Glauber – even though the Tar Heels are undefeated this season when he enters the game. Look for Sooners hitters to knock potential starter Ryan Lynch out of the game early. If 18-year-old Glauber gets the non-conventional starting nod, North Carolina will need him to go at least 7 innings – something he’s only done once this season in just three starts (against USC earlier this month).
We indeed expect that Glauber will be on the mound for North Carolina to start the game against Oklahoma RHP Nick Wesloski. Buy the Sooners on prediction market apps to win the college baseball D1 championship at 45¢ per contract all day long, in our view.
For once, the Omaha weather forecast appears to be conducive for a MCWS game. There’s just a 10% chance of rain, with highs in the 70s and lows around 60 degrees – perfect for baseball. The wind shouldn’t be too much of a factor tonight, as it’s forecast to be a gentle 5mph breeze throughout.
Even with the high humidity, tonight’s weather is representative of what college baseball fans would “hope for” in terms of playing conditions. There shouldn’t be any major issues with footing, or with catching foul balls that are popped up within the Charles Schwab Field’s massive foul territory.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are favored to win this game, according to Kalshi traders who are gung-ho on Caden Glauber’s shut-down reputation coming out of the bullpen. Their odds of winning were lower than 33% after dropping Game 1 by a score of 9-3, but Glauber didn’t pitch on Saturday.
Simply put, the 57¢ per-contract price for the “Diamond Heels” to capture their first-ever national championship is too steep. Game 2 was only a temporary setback for the Sooners, who are looking to win their third Division 1 title tonight, and their first college baseball championship since 1994 when they swept the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
