The Cleveland Cavaliers look to advance to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since the LeBron James era as they host the Detroit Pistons in Game 6 of their best-of-seven series this Friday at Rocket Arena.
Cleveland took a 3-2 series lead following a 117-113 overtime win in Game 5 so the onus is now on the Pistons to respond and live to fight another day. With both teams eager to make a statement, let’s look at how the latest prediction markets see this pivotal Game 6 matchup playing out while also giving you our predictions.
Kalshi prediction markets have Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers as 61% favorites heading into Game 6 and it’s easy to see why. The Cavaliers haven’t lost at home in this playoffs and what’s even more impressive is the fact that they have been beating teams by an average margin of 9.3 points.
While Mitchell remains the primary scoring option, the Cavaliers will need James Harden to turn up here if they are to close out the series in Game 6. Harden, who was only limited to 32 total points the first two games of the series, has been averaging 24.3 points in the previous three games. Look for Harden to stay aggressive offensively and continue attacking the paint early in the hopes of drawing more fouls and creating easy opportunities to score. The 36-year old Harden was extremely effective from the line in Game 5 as he shot 11-for-14 from the charity stripe albeit a terrible shooting game from the field overall.
The best prediction markets are giving the Pistons a 39% chance to force a Game 7 and quite frankly, there’s a lot of value in it, especially when you take into consideration that they came back from a 3-1 series deficit the previous round. However, they’ll have to be far more consistent on both ends of the floor here, especially in closing out games. The Pistons actually led by nine with under three minutes to go in the fourth quarter of Game 5 before they wound up collapsing in overtime. That’s why it’s important for them to close out possessions here since late-game execution has pretty much been the difference in every game in this series.
The under total in points hit in three of the previous five matchups between the Cavaliers and the Pistons this playoffs. With the Pistons and the Cavaliers likely tightening up the defensive screws here, half-court execution and tempo control could once again push the scoring lower than expected. Moreover, we also like to think that cleaner looks will be hard to come by, especially in the final canto where the Cavaliers and the Pistons are forced to depend heavily on late-clock possessions and isolation plays.
Trading your favorite contracts for Game 6 of the Cavaliers-Pistons Eastern Conference semifinals matchup has never been easier with Kalshi. Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can get right in on the action.
With Cleveland holding a 3-2 series lead and remaining unbeaten at home this postseason, we like to think that the edge is still with the Cavaliers heading into Game 6. Their ability to respond to adversity and the recent offensive explosion of Harden makes it even more difficult to go against them in this spot.
However, that’s exactly what we are going to do here as we are picking Cade Cunningham and the Pistons to force a Game 7. While they have lost three straight so far, the Pistons have proven that they can keep games within striking distance on the road so the question here is how will they execute late because that’s exactly what cost them the lead in this series.
