The Atlanta Dream (16-10) are on a three-game winning streak, where they took care of business against three below-average teams in the Los Angeles Sparks (10-16), Toronto Tempo (10-17), and the Chicago Sky.
The Dallas Wings (18-9) are coming in hot, having won seven of their last eight games. Their one loss came against the New York Liberty (15-12) in a one-point, overtime thriller. The Wings are priced at 51 cents to win this game, which is a reasonable cost considering they’re 8-4 at home, while the Dream are only 7-6 on the road. This should be a close game, but you have to give the edge to the home team here.
The Dream haven’t been able to get it done on the road, losing four of their last five games away from home, including a blowout loss against the Seattle Storm (6-23). The reason that this line is so low is that the Dream have won both meetings this season, but I’m backing the Wings because they’re in better form.
Paige Bueckers has scored at least 20 points in four of her last five games, including 34 against the Tempo on July 10th. Look for Bueckers to be motivated for a big game after only scoring seven points in an 86-69 blowout loss the last time the Wings faced the Dream.
The Wings are firing on all cylinders right now, with only the Liberty able to get the better of them in the last eight games. The Dream have only beaten below-.500 teams during their current three-game winning streak. With that in mind, we’ll ride with the Wings to win here.
Dream forward Angel Reese left Sunday’s win over the Sky with a left leg injury. There’s a risk that she won’t be able to suit up for this game.
Dream guard Allisha Gray has been extremely consistent of late, dropping 20+ points in five of her last seven games, including 29 against the Sky.
Wings rookie Azzi Fudd became the first rookie to win the 3-point contest at the All-Star Game. She’s shooting 38.7% from beyond the arc, giving Dallas another weapon on offense.
Paige Bueckers is having a terrific season, averaging 20.9 points per game while shooting 51.3% from the field.
The Wings opened as 57% favorites for this game, but the price has moved to 51%. The explanation for this drop could be more volume coming on the Dream due to their two wins over the Wings in the last two meetings. But with Angel Reese’s status in question, I have to give the edge to the Wings, especially due to home court advantage.
