The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open is only a day away, as the best golfers from around the globe fine-tune their respective games ahead of the British Open. Round 1 tee times are set for Thursday morning local time at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
The modified, par 70 course features fast fairways and deep bunkers. Expect temperatures to be mild this weekend with highs in the 70s. The wind could pick up and gust to 15 mph with occasional showers, which will serve as a preliminary setting leading into next week’s major.
Prediction markets sports forecasters on Kalshi have already placed $1 million in cumulative trades on who will win this weekend. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy lead the pack and are priced at 14¢ and 9.2¢ per contract, respectively. Both are currently in the Top 3 of the FedEx Cup Rankings.
If we’re forced to pick one of the two, we like Rory McIlroy’s consistency on the PGA Tour this year and will pick up his “yes” contracts as long as they remain under 11 cents. McIlroy captured a Scottish Open victory in 2023, and was the runner-up last year.
There’s also an 83-cent contract for McIlroy to make the cut this weekend, which we feel is a virtual lock. Stay away from the overpriced Scheffler “to win” contracts and put your forecasting might behind the veteran from Northern Ireland, in our opinion. If you’re seeking a “dark horse” to root for, look no further than defending champion Chris Gotterup at 3.2 cents per contract.
There’s a lot of media buzz around Chris Gotterup, who won the John Deere Classic last week and is looking to repeat as the Scottish Open champion this weekend. If he gets hot, look for the anticipated record in-person crowd to voice their enthusiasm for the American golfer.
Gotterup shot a final-round 62 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, a week ago. If you believe he’s a major threat to repeat his performance, you can pick him up for just 3.2 cents per contract before the media hype cycle raises his price.
Tournament organizers are grouping Rory McIlroy, Chris Gotterup, and Robert MacIntyre together for the first round. The three golfers are the three most recent champions of the Scottish Open.
The individual winner markets on Kalshi have remained relatively flat over the past 24 hours. Traders seem to be pretty much locked in and may not budge from their positions until the action starts tomorrow morning.
Players will want to steer clear of as many pot bunkers as possible, especially if the weather conditions aren’t that great. Look for per-contract prices on the winner market to dive for each player that gets into trouble early.
If you’re in the United States and want to watch the tournament, you can tune in to ESPN+ and stream most of the morning coverage. CBS will pick up the broadcast for weekend action, which will air during the afternoon and evening hours within the US.
