Mayweather clear favorite ahead of April 25th
The Kalshi prediction market is still open ahead of Tyson vs. Mayweather
Doubts whether the exhibition bout will still go ahead
Despite the silence surrounding this expected bout on April 25th, the latest prediction market for Mayweather vs. Tyson has been moving. With some assistance from Kalshi, we have been taking a closer look at whether we should expect an Iron Mike KO or a masterclass from Money himself.
We don’t really need to give you a full breakdown of what to expect from each of these legendary fighters. These boxing greats have rightly been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) and leave legacies that many aspire to replicate.
In the lead-up to his fight with Jake Paul, we saw that Tyson still held some of that tenacity and power that made him so lethal throughout his reign. Of course, the night itself didn’t quite go in the direction we all expected.
With Mayweather, we have to go back to 2017 to witness Money back in the ring. Here, Money slowly picked apart Conor McGregor, stopping the face of the UFC in the tenth. Since then, we only have recent training footage to go off, but it does look as though Mayweather comes into this one as the clear favorite.
| Boxer | Chance | Yes | No |
|---|---|---|---|
| Floyd Mayweather | 74% | $0.75 | $0.26 |
| Mike Tyson | 26% | $0.26 | $0.75 |
Based on our recent review of Kalshi, a prediction market for this event remains active and open. However, there has been a distinct lack of promotion ahead of this spectacle – something unheard of for bouts of this caliber.
We know that both fighters are some way off their prime, but a fight like this would still pull in some serious numbers, and we have heard very little from both camps throughout.
Any boxing fan who has followed Floyd Mayweather will know that the distinct lack of hype and promotion goes completely against his usual approach. They call him Money for a reason, and his team knows a thing or two about drawing attention ahead of main events.
However, bar an initial mention from Mayweather, we have seen no further posts on social media, no official launch parties, zero promotion, and no confirmation of a date. On top of this, Mayweather has confirmed his participation in other boxing events and even mentioned another potential bout with Pacquiao.
When you couple all of this with a recent right-hand sprain for Tyson, it looks as though we may not witness these two go head-to-head after all. In true Iron Mike fashion, he referred to the injury as a “little strain from punching stuff” but, with 60 fast approaching, even the prospect of a postponed bout seems unlikely.
We have already seen Tyson tire early in his recent fight with Paul, and a right-hand injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for him. Mayweather is 10 years younger, injury-free, and renowned for his fitness and defense. With all this taken into account, we have to agree with the current state of play and suggest that Mayweather will take the W on the night. Of course, that is on the proviso that it still goes ahead.
