Mandatory Credit: Raymond Carlin III-USA TODAY Sports The Texas Rangers activated right-hander Josh Sborz from the injured list Friday and placed right-hander Dane Dunning on the IL with right shoulder soreness.
Sborz, a Rangers World Series hero who recorded the final seven outs in the title-clinching game last season, hasn't pitched since May 8 because of a right rotator cuff strain. The 30-year-old is 1-0 this season with a 1.69 ERA in seven relief outings.
Over six career seasons, Sborz is 12-11 with a 4.96 ERA in 144 outings (one start) for the Los Angeles Dodgers (2019-20) and Rangers. During the 2023 playoffs, he had a 0.75 ERA in 10 relief appearances.
Dunning, 29, is 4-7 with a 4.71 ERA in 15 appearances (12 starts) this season. Dunning also missed time in May with shoulder discomfort. Over five seasons, Dunning is 27-32 with a 4.23 ERA in 113 appearances (99 starts) with the Chicago White Sox (2020) and Rangers.
