Reports: Yankees acquire 3B Ryan McMahon from Rockies

The New York Yankees are acquiring third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for two minor league pitchers, multiple media outlets reported on Friday.
The Yankees reportedly will send left-hander Griffin Herring and right-hander Josh Grosz to the Rockies to complete the deal for McMahon, who was viewed as one of the top available positional players on the market.
New York is in need of a full-time third baseman, with Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas recently platooning at the position.
McMahon, 30, is batting .217 with 16 homers and 35 RBIs while starting a majors-best 100 games at third base this season with the Rockies. He is owed $16 million for each of the next two seasons before being slated to become a free agent.
An All-Star in 2024, McMahon is a career .240 hitter with 140 homers and 452 RBIs in parts of nine seasons with Colorado.
Herring, 22, is the Yankees' No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He is 7-3 with a 1.71 ERA in 16 appearances (all starts) this season split between Single-A Tampa in the Florida Gulf League and High-A Hudson Valley.
Grosz, 22, is 4-8 with a 4.14 ERA in 16 appearances (15 starts) with Hudson Valley.
